Where we fly

Algodonales, Spain

Andalusia's classic flying village. Sierra de Líjar offers thermic ridge soaring almost year-round, with easy top landings and a huge, forgiving main LZ — ideal for a first cross-country week.

Montellano, Spain

A quiet inland site with wide, open valleys and reliable spring and autumn thermals. Great for pilots stepping up from ridge soaring to their first triangles.

Matalascañas, Spain

Coastal dune soaring on the Atlantic. Smooth sea breeze, soft sand landings and long, low-stress airtime — the best place to rebuild currency or refine ground handling.

Mirleft, Morocco

Winter sunshine over Atlantic cliffs. Consistent laminar coastal lift, dramatic scenery and warm flying while the Alps are shut down.

Løkken, Denmark

North Sea dune flying with wide beaches and clean onshore wind. A safe, sociable soaring week for lower-airtime pilots and speedwing fun.

What a guided paragliding week includes

Daily weather calls

Your guide reads the forecast each morning and picks the site that actually works — no wasted days waiting on a blown-out hill.

Transport and retrieve

Take-off shuttles and pick-ups after every flight, so you can commit to a glide instead of a walk back.

Radio guidance

Briefings, in-flight radio and debriefs matched to your level, from first thermals to cross-country tasks.

Trips are open to licensed pilots; the minimum level is stated on each listing. Bring your own wing, harness and reserve, or ask the organizer about rental. If you are still training, our VIP coaching days give you one-to-one instruction before you join a group week.

About our paragliding trips

Paragliding trips are the fastest way to turn a few local flights a month into real airtime. Instead of chasing a forecast alone, you join a small group, fly a proven site every day the weather allows, and get briefed by a guide who knows the terrain. Our paragliding trips run in Algodonales and Montellano in Andalusia, on the Atlantic dunes at Matalascañas, along the cliffs of Mirleft in Morocco, and on the North Sea coast at Løkken in Denmark, so there is a flyable paragliding trip somewhere on the calendar in every month of the year.

A guided paragliding trip is built around soaring, not sledge rides. In spring and summer the Andalusian trips focus on thermal flying and first cross-country legs, with radio guidance, retrieve and a debrief after each flight. Coastal paragliding trips at Matalascañas, Mirleft and Løkken are about smooth ridge and dune soaring: long, low-stress airtime that rebuilds currency, sharpens ground handling and suits lower-hour pilots, speedwing flyers and anyone returning to the sport after a break.

Every paragliding trip on SoaringTrips is run by an independent organizer we have checked for licensing, insurance and local site knowledge, and each listing states the pilot level, the group size and exactly what is included. Week-long paragliding trips cost €1,050 per person; if you would rather progress one-to-one, VIP coaching days are €300. Pick a departure, tell us your logbook hours, and we will confirm the paragliding trip that matches your level and your dates.

Paragliding and soaring: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between paragliding and soaring?

Paragliding is flying a foot-launched, flexible wing. Soaring is what you do once airborne: staying up by using rising air, either ridge lift where wind is deflected up a slope, or thermals where the sun heats the ground and columns of warm air rise. Every trip we list is built around soaring conditions rather than short descent flights.

Do I need a licence to join a paragliding trip?

Yes. Guided trips are for licensed pilots, and each listing states the minimum level — typically an IPPI 4 / club pilot rating or national equivalent, plus valid third-party insurance. If you are still training, start with a one-to-one VIP coaching day or a school course instead.

How much airtime or experience do I need?

Most beginner-friendly weeks suit pilots with roughly 25 to 50 flights who can ground handle, launch and land in light conditions. Cross-country weeks assume you can already core a thermal and fly with other pilots. Tell us your logbook hours and we will point you at the right departure.

What equipment do I bring?

Your wing, harness with in-date reserve, helmet, boots, radio, variometer and gloves. Bring your reserve repack certificate. If you are missing something, ask the organizer about rental, or check second-hand gliders, harnesses and reserves in our marketplace.

What is the best time of year to fly?

Andalusia (Algodonales, Montellano) flies well from spring through autumn with strong thermals in summer. Coastal sites like Matalascañas and Løkken work on sea breeze from spring to early autumn. Mirleft in Morocco is a winter destination, flyable when the Alps are shut down.

What happens if the weather is not flyable?

Your guide makes a weather call each morning and moves the group to a site that works where possible. On genuinely unflyable days trips switch to ground handling, theory, SIV-style briefings or local activities. Trips are not cancelled for single bad days.

How safe is paragliding?

Risk is real but heavily influenced by decision-making: flying within your rating, respecting conditions and maintaining your equipment. Flying with an experienced local guide reduces the biggest hazards for visiting pilots — unknown terrain, local wind effects and airspace. Personal accident and rescue insurance is required on all our trips.

What does a paragliding trip cost?

Guided week-long trips are €1,050 per person, and one-to-one VIP coaching is €300 per day. Each listing details exactly what is included, such as guiding, transport, retrieve and briefings. Flights to the destination are not included.
